Madras Biotech plan to conduct a two-month practical training program for post-graduate
life science students to prepare them for jobs in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry. The comprehensive training program will include basic laboratory techniques as well as exposure to modern methods in biochemistry and molecular biology. The trainees are expected to become conversant with recombinant DNA techniques (e.g., PCR, cloning), recombinant protein overexpression and purification, proteomics, and select immunochemical techniques. An introduction to bioinformatics will also be provided. The technical expertise gained during the training program will help students, especially those who already possess a strong academic record, to find competitive placement in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical firms in India . The hands-on experience will also be invaluable in serving as a barometer of one's laboratory skills and help facilitate decision making to continue a career in research.
